Ravenclaw House
1 September 1947
My first day as house head.
I must say, it was rather eventful. Of course, eventful is a diplomatic way of putting it. My dear Ravens decided to engage in a food fight (started by one Chol Hel) during the Opening Feast. And not just the usual flinging of a few peas here and there, mind you! This was a full-blown, all-out affair.
Oh, the sight of them when I cornered them in the Ravenclaw Common Room! Poor Miss Ranieri must have been frightened to death when her kitten pounced on me. While she had no trouble with wailing at the top of her lungs, other students wavered between laughing and crying. For my part, I could not quite decide which emotion was most appropriate for the occasion either.
As I write this, one of the house elves has just reported that the children have begun their punishment. Come dawn, the Great Hall should be sparkling along with their house robes. I wonder if any of them will be alert enough to appreciate their handiwork.
I must say, though, my Ravens dished it out quite well this evening. They even managed to hold their own against those Slytherins. Not that I would ever admit it to anyone, but I really was quite proud of their spunk.
I think come June, there may very well be a House Cup sitting in my office...
